Anesco Acquires 36MWp Beachampton Solar Farm to Expand UK Renewable Energy Portfolio

Anesco, a renewable energy developer and operator based in Reading, has acquired a 36MWp solar farm in Beachampton, Buckinghamshire, which is currently under development.

The project, built by One Planet Developments in partnership with Viridi Re Development, Solar Ambition Europe, and landowner Kingwell, is expected to produce sufficient electricity to supply around 9,000 homes and cut approximately 5,700 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Buckinghamshire Council granted planning permission for the site in January 2024. Connection to the National Grid Electricity Distribution is anticipated in early 2027. The approved plans include measures to enhance local biodiversity, such as new woodland planting and hedgerow improvements.

Hildagarde McCarville, chief executive of Anesco, said, “This acquisition is another step forward in our mission to help accelerate the UK’s transition to secure and sustainable, low carbon energy – something that has seen us successfully energise more than 1.1GW of solar and storage assets to date. Having established a strong pipeline of solar and BESS projects ourselves, we are excited to further enhance and expand it through strategic partnerships such as this.”

James Stoney, business development director at One Planet, added, “We are delighted to have sold another ready to build solar farm project. One Planet has planning consent for 100MW of solar across two sites with a further five projects totalling 223MW in planning and development. It also has three consented Battery Energy Storage sites totalling 500MW. We look forward to further sales of our 800MW portfolio over the coming year.”

Alistair Emery, founder of Kingwell, said, “One Planet have been excellent partners to work with in realising this exciting project on our farm at Beachampton and we are now delighted to be progressing its delivery with Anesco. Not only does it play an important part in the diversification of our wider farm business, it also meets our ambitions to enhance the environmental quality of our land holdings through improving biodiversity whilst producing low carbon renewable energy.”

Anesco has energised more than 1.1GW of solar and storage assets. Its renewables operation and maintenance division manages over 1.6GW of renewable energy across the UK and Northern Europe.
