A Basingstoke-based hospice dedicated to providing supportive end-of-life and palliative care has received a boost of just under £13,000, helping to sustain its crucial work supporting local people facing the most difficult times in their lives.
St Michael’s Hospice, founded in 1992, is committed to delivering compassionate end-of-life and palliative care in North Hampshire, offering anyone faced with life limiting illness, their families and carers with specialist care and support. The hospice receives only 22% of their funding from the NHS, therefore they need to raise an additional £15,000 every day to continue providing free vital care for the local community.
Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey West London, which operates across Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey, has chosen St Michael’s as one of its two charities of the year for 2026.
In August the team organised a charity golf day, bringing colleagues, contractors and suppliers together to support the hospice’s vital work in the community. The golf day raised £12,773 and a team from Taylor Wimpey visited the hospice in September to formally present the donation.
Maxine Hart, Business Development Executive at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “Our hospice relies on the support from our local community to be able to continue to offer our vital services to people who are often experiencing the most difficult time in their lives.
“We’re beyond grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s incredible donation to our hospice, which makes such a huge difference in sustaining the work we do and also helps to raise awareness about our wider mission.”
Paul Turner, Production Director at Taylor Wimpey West London, said: “One of our priorities is supporting vulnerable people within the communities in which we are building. We chose to support St Michael’s Hospice because of the vital role it plays in not only caring for individuals facing life limiting illness, but also in supporting their loved ones during an extremely difficult time.
“Our charity golf day gave us an opportunity to come together and enjoy a day of fun, while raising funds for a charity helping families in our community. I’m really grateful to my colleagues and our suppliers and contractors who helped us to raise such a fantastic amount.”
