The English Cheesecake Company acquisition has moved forward with the premium cheesecake brand joining The Emmi Group in a completed transaction supported by Watersheds. The deal follows a period of sustained commercial performance from the London based producer. Founded in 2000 as a family business, the company reported sales of about £23m in the most recent financial year.
Its range covers classic cheesecakes, vegan options, frozen products and snack formats. These products have built a following among consumers who favour established dessert brands. The English Cheesecake Company acquisition places this portfolio alongside a larger international group.
The Emmi Group already operates in the British food service sector through the Mademoiselle Desserts Group. The retail activity of The English Cheesecake Company was regarded as a strong complement to an existing distribution strategy. The English Cheesecake Company acquisition therefore reflects a targeted approach rather than a broad expansion.
Watersheds advised on the deal. It was led by partner John Stopher. He stated: “We presented a selection of opportunities to the client and worked closely with them to achieve the best deal that would meet their ambitions for expansion in the UK.”
He continued: “Ultimately, this is a perfect example of how we use our expertise and contacts to identify off market deals and bring strategic acquisitions smoothly to fruition.”
The transaction is expected to create scope for coordinated development plans. Stopher concluded: “There is an exciting opportunity ahead for the combined teams to unlock substantial growth potential, which we look forward to watching unfold.”
The English Cheesecake Company acquisition marks a clear strategic move within the dessert sector. It provides Emmi Group with a reinforced position in both food service and retail while giving the acquired business a broader platform for the next phase of its commercial trajectory.
