Lester Aldridge highlights expertise in automotive-sector M&A with cross-border sales

A partner at law firm Lester Aldridge has underlined the firm’s role in facilitating the sale of two UK automotive groups to a Dutch buyer, citing its “expertise in complex cross-border deals and automotive-sector M&A”.

The acquiring company, Van Mossel, is among the largest automotive retail groups in Europe, operating over 570 sites. These acquisitions represent the group’s first substantial move into the UK mainland market, expanding its presence significantly.

Breeze Motor Group, which has a turnover of £155.4 million, represents Volkswagen, Suzuki, and Ducati. Ocean Automotive, with a turnover of £179 million, operates Audi and Volvo franchises and manages two accident repair centres in Poole and Yeovil.

The deal has been described as an example of Lester Aldridge’s capability in advising on complex transactions and strategic automotive-sector mergers and acquisitions.

The transaction team included partners Grant Esterhuizen and Jamie Earley, supported by Gerard Chalkly-Maber and Danielle Slater. Partner Adam Corcoran advised specifically on the property elements of the deal.

Grant Esterhuizen said: “We are delighted to have supported both transactions, which highlight our expertise in complex cross-border deals and automotive-sector M&A.”

John Corderoy, sole shareholder of Breeze, commented: “Lester Aldridge were outstanding advisers — responsive, pragmatic and always one step ahead.”

David Kelly, chairman and sole shareholder at Ocean Automotive, added: “Partnering with Lester Aldridge ensured that this transaction was handled with professionalism and care. Their team provided exceptional guidance throughout, making a complex process feel seamless.”

Lester Aldridge maintains offices in Bournemouth, Southampton and London.
