McLaren 750S Signs Off a Decade of Iconic Supercars

McLaren today confirms that final orders of the McLaren 750S are now being taken, bringing the curtain down on a supercar platform that has been one of the most iconic and successful of its generation.

Positioned at the core of the McLaren supercar line-up the 750S will retire from production in 2027, a decade on from its 720S predecessor’s introduction.

The 720S marked the introduction of a new generation of lightweight, V8 powered McLaren supercars, with innovative design, engineering and aerodynamic principles. It set in motion a lineage of cars that would go on to be multiple award-winners on road, and race winners on track in international GT racing and the World Endurance Championship.

750S, introduced in 2023 after meticulous analysis of the attributes of the 720S, took the benchmark for lightweight supercar performance further than ever. Significant updates saw 30 percent of components new or changed, making 750S more powerful than 720S – with 750PS, lighter – at just 1,277kg dry, quicker, but also enhanced through the integration of innovative new technologies and an updated, more driver-focused environment.

Through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), 750S clients remain able to express and tailor their cars to their own unique specification via its bespoke personalisation services. MSO itself has utilised the 750S as a canvas on which to showcase these possibilities, through its own limited and one-off commissions. Creations such as the 750S with 3-7-59 Theme, and Project Viva by MSO, serve as inspiration to clients who wish to utilise the expertise of MSO in creating a truly individual McLaren.

The platform has also provided the foundation for celebrated limited-volume derivatives, including the track-focused 765LT and more recently, the exclusive 788HS, to be made in 200 examples through a highly bespoke commission programme at MSO for each client.

“The 750S represents everything that defines a McLaren supercar: benchmark performance, thrilling driver engagement, technical innovation, expressive design, and defined personalisation. It will leave behind an extraordinary legacy.”
Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer, Chief Commercial Officer, McLaren Automotive
