MG Surpasses Annual Sales Record in Just 10-Months Following Best October in Company’s History

MG Motor UK has set a new year-to-date sales record after registering 7,837 vehicles in October, its highest ever volume for the month. The result marks a seventh consecutive monthly record, places MG fourth in the UK sales rankings for October, and beats the annual sales record set in 2025.

October registrations increased by 3,604 vehicles, or 85.1%, compared with the same month in 2025. MG secured a 5.13% market share, while the overall new-car market grew 5.4% to 152,730 registrations.

MG passed its previous full-year sales record of 85,155 vehicles on 29 October. By the end of the month, year-to-date sales had reached 86,767, an increase of 17,140 vehicles, or 24.6%, compared with the same period last year.

MG now holds a 4.59% year-to-date market share and ranks sixth overall, compared with 12th at the same point last year. The total UK new-car market reached 1,892,000 registrations in the year to date, up 9.8%.

Retail registrations grew 57.3% in October, far ahead of the 4.1% increase across the wider retail market. The result reflects the importance of value to new-car buyers, echoing a recent Auto Trader feature on consumers’ focus on value, and the benefits and savings of electrified vehicles.

Fleet sales rose a staggering 138.8%, also supported by MG’s comprehensive range of Hybrid+, Plug-in Hybrid and electric vehicle options.

David Allison, Director of Product and Planning, MG Motor UK, said: “October’s results show that more customers are choosing MG for the value, choice and quality offered across our range. Setting a seventh consecutive monthly record and passing our previous full-year sales record before the end of October are significant achievements. Strong growth in both retail and fleet also demonstrates the appeal of our vehicles to a very broad range of customers, who – more than ever – are voting for value.”
