Accounts Assistant in local print has been awarded a national Rising Star Award by The Printing Charity.

Katie Kelly, an Accounts Assistant at printers Blackmore Ltd in Shaftesbury has received this prestigious award in recognition of young talent and the bright future of print. It supports individuals who are looking for personal development or training in this sector, between the ages of 18-30.

A spokesperson from The Printing Charity, a dedicated charity supporting people in the print sector, said, “This year’s awards spotlighted 78 exceptional individuals, representing the vibrant worlds of print, paper, packaging, graphics and publishing. With talent like this, the future of print is brighter than ever.”

The process was strenuous to get this award, with Katie going through a rigorous entry application and a tough interview stage, but Katie deservingly received her award at the House of Lords, surrounded by other talents winners and guests from the print industry.

The charity’s President Emeritus and long-standing supporter, Lord Black of Brentwood, congratulated Katie who put the award’s funding prize towards an AAT Level 2 Accounting course.

Blackmore was formed in 1900 and has built it’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading green printers. They are committed to achieving net-zero this decade, and in order to do this, have invested over £3million in a solar energy system, electric car fleet, and environmentally friendly new litho and digital print presses.

These implementations have seen the company win several awards – including the Kodak Green Leaf Award for their environmental credentials – and they work with a broad range of clients from large corporate companies and world-renowned charitable organisations to local, small-scale businesses.

Andrew Robbins, Managing Director at the press has said: “We are delighted that all Katie’s hard work and dedication have been recognised in this award win. Congratulations to Katie from everyone at Blackmore!”
