SAINT LAURENT RIVE DROITE New York presents an exhibition by American artist Brandon Morris, curated by Anthony Vaccarello, on view from September 25 to November 16, during New York Art Week.
Born in San Diego in 2000 and based in New York, Brandon Morris studied fashion design at Parsons School of Design before turning his attention to sculpture. He has developed a practice centered on the transformation of materials such as leather, nylon, and fiberglass, exploring how garments can exist independently of the human body.
This new body of work was commissioned by Anthony Vaccarello following Morris’ exhibition Tissu Expansé in Paris and was conceived in response to the lace dresses from the Saint Laurent Women Winter 2026 collection. Expanding on his acclaimed Ghost Dresses series, Morris transforms garments into hollow, freestanding sculptures that evoke presence through absence. Constructed from fiberglass cloth silkscreened with lace patterns and hardened with tinted resin, the works develop his ghost-like figures into more theatrical forms, characterized by elongated silhouettes, distorted gestures, and expressive poses.
Three of the sculptures are developed in direct relation to selected vintage furniture, sourced by the artist and conceived as an integral part of each work rather than a simple display element. The furniture allows the figures to inhabit the space in more relaxed postures, further extending Morris’ exploration of gesture, presence, and individuality.
Brandon Morris’ recent solo exhibitions include Tissu Expansé at EUROPA, Paris, Actress at EUROPA, New York, Cathedral Junkie at Pangée, Montréal, and Cats Live in Loneliness then Die like Falling Rain at Gern En Regalia, New York. His work is included in the collections of the AMA Venezia Foundation, Venice, and the ARTUNER Collection, Turin.
