Spinnaker Tower Reopens in Time for October Half-Term

All three viewing decks are now open, with Spinnaker Kitchen & Bar also welcoming guests back to Portsmouth’s waterfront.

Guests are once again enjoying some of the best views on the south coast after Spinnaker Tower reopened its doors just in time for October half-term.

Following a brief closure to facilitate an operational handover, Portsmouth’s iconic landmark is welcoming visitors back to all three viewing decks, offering panoramic views across Portsmouth Harbour, the Solent and beyond.

Standing 170 metres above the waterfront, Spinnaker Tower remains one of the city’s most recognisable attractions. From the famous glass floor to its spectacular vantage points high above the harbour, the attraction offers a unique way to take in Portsmouth’s historic coastline.

The attraction has reopened under the new management of Company of Cooks in partnership with Landsec, owners of Gunwharf Quays, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the much-loved visitor destination.

Further enhancing the day-out experience, Spinnaker Kitchen & Bar opened on Saturday 24th October. Operating with a limited menu initially, the venue brings food and drink back to the waterfront, offering another opportunity for guests to relax and enjoy Portsmouth’s waterside setting.

With the October half-term underway, families can make the most of everything Portsmouth’s waterfront has to offer. Alongside a trip up the Tower, guests can also enjoy Gunwharf Quays’ “Haunted Highway” event, which brings together a collection of famous film and television-inspired vehicles on the waterfront for free family entertainment throughout the week. Families can also continue the fun at “Castaway Cove Presents Oktoberfest” on The Plaza, where Bavarian-inspired food and drink, live Oompah band performances, and interactive games provide seasonal entertainment for all ages from Thursday – Sunday.

Whether taking in the views, grabbing a bite to eat at Spinnaker Kitchen & Bar, or stepping onto the iconic glass floor suspended high above the harbour, tourists and residents can experience one of Portsmouth’s most distinctive attractions this half term.

Yvonne Clay, Centre Director at Gunwharf Quays, said: “We’re delighted to see Spinnaker Tower welcoming visitors once again. As one of Portsmouth’s most iconic landmarks, the attraction plays an important role in the city’s visitor offer and continues to provide memorable experiences for residents and visitors alike.

“With families enjoying the half-term break, it’s the perfect opportunity to rediscover the incredible views and unique experiences that Spinnaker Tower has to offer. We look forward to supporting the team as the attraction continues to play an important role on Portsmouth’s waterfront.”

Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council, added: “The Spinnaker Tower is a hugely important Portsmouth landmark, so it’s good to see it open and welcoming visitors again.

“We’re pleased to be working in partnership with Gunwharf Quays on this next chapter for the Tower, and to see continued investment in our waterfront and the city’s visitor offer.

“It’s also great timing for half term. Portsmouth is a brilliant city for a day out, with our waterfront, heritage, attractions, shopping and places to eat all within easy reach, and now visitors can once again add a trip up the Tower to their plans.”

Spinnaker Tower is currently open daily from 10am until 6pm during the school holidays, with admission priced at £12 for adults and £10 for children. Discounted tickets are also available for Portsmouth residents. Visitors can purchase tickets on arrival, with all payments currently being accepted by card only.
