Yusen Logistics has officially opened its new European regional headquarters, Yusen Logistics Global Management (Europe) N.V. (YLGM-EUR), in Antwerp, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the European market and establishing a central base in one of Europe’s leading logistics hubs.
The new headquarters serves as the nerve centre of Yusen Logistics’ European operations, housing approximately 140 employees and supporting the company’s continued growth across the continent.
The relocation of the regional head office from Schiphol (Amsterdam) to Antwerp reflects Yusen Logistics’ long-term vision for Europe and the strategic value of positioning the organisation at the heart of a major logistics ecosystem.
Located at the centre of one of Europe’s most important logistics corridors, Antwerp offers outstanding connectivity via road, rail, inland waterways, and maritime routes.
The presence of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges – one of Europe’s largest and most strategically vital ports – further strengthens the city’s role as a gateway to international trade.
The choice of Antwerp also holds special significance for the broader NYK Group, to which Yusen Logistics belongs. Several NYK Group companies, including NYK Bulkship (Atlantic) NV, and International Car Operators N.V. (ICO), are already well-established in the Port of Antwerp. By bringing Yusen Logistics’ European headquarters into proximity with these sister companies, the Group aims to enhance internal collaboration and strengthen integrated logistics solutions. Closer connections with these affiliated businesses will enable more seamless service offerings to customers and capitalise on Antwerp’s robust logistics infrastructure for greater efficiency across global supply chains.
Yusen Logistics marked the opening of the new regional headquarters with an official ceremony in Antwerp, attended by representatives of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, customers, business partners and employees. The event was hosted by Minoru Futonaka, Managing Director of YLGM-EUR, and Bruno Jacques, Deputy Managing Director of YLGM-EUR. Hiroki Harada, CEO of YLGM, and Carl-Johan Hagman, President and CEO of NYK Group Europe Ltd, were among the special guests, underscoring the significance of this milestone.
“Today’s opening marks an important milestone for Yusen Logistics in Europe,” said Hiroki Harada, CEO of YLGM. “The establishment of our European headquarters in Antwerp reflects our confidence in the European market and our commitment to supporting customers through a strong, connected, and future-ready organisation.”
For Yusen Logistics Europe’s leadership, the new headquarters is more than just a change of address, it is central to fostering collaboration across countries, functions and business units. This unified hub will help the company respond to customer needs more effectively while further strengthening its network across Europe.
“The new headquarters will play an important role in the future development of our European organisation,” added Minoru Futonaka, Managing Director of YLGM-EUR. “It creates an environment where our teams can collaborate more closely, share expertise and continue building a strong and connected operation that is ready for the future.”
Bruno Jacques, Deputy Managing Director of YLGM-EUR, said: “Antwerp offers a unique combination of connectivity, logistics expertise and international business opportunities. We are proud to establish our European Headquarters here and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of Antwerp’s dynamic logistics community.”
