A site manager from Dorset has cemented his reputation as one of the country’s most decorated construction professionals after securing a 29th National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job award.

Bellway’s Dave Murnane, who is currently overseeing work at the company’s Kingsmere Park development in West Parley, near Bournemouth, has been responsible for the delivery of hundreds of homes across Dorset and the South West in his 40-year career.

By setting and achieving consistently high standards, Dave has won 18 Quality Awards, 10 Seals of Excellence and one Regional Award in the annual Pride in the Job competition. Only 449 from 7,500 site managers inspected by the NHBC were selected to receive a Quality Award this year.

Dave, 57, from Hengistbury Head, has worked for Bellway for 25 years.

He said: “I’m incredibly proud to win the 29th Pride in the Job award of my career. However, winning these awards is not about chasing recognition – it’s about maintaining the same high standards every single day.

“Every home we build is someone’s biggest investment, and my team takes real pride in delivering quality, attention to detail, and a finish we’d be happy to hand over to our own families.

“Consistency, teamwork, and never compromising on quality are what have driven our success over the years.”

Judging for the awards is a rigorous process which encompasses every aspect of a site manager’s responsibilities, including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety. Spot checks are also carried out on the day-to-day running of the site.

Dave and the other Quality Award winners will now go on to be judged in the next round of the competition – the Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards – which will be announced in the autumn.

David Baily, Construction Director for Bellway Wessex, said: “Huge congratulations to Dave on winning his 29th Pride in the Job award. This is an incredible achievement which reflects his talent and drive to succeed.

“Dave always shows absolute dedication to meeting the rigorous standards required by the NHBC judges over a sustained period, while inspiring his site teams to share the Pride in the Job ethos, which is vital to achieve this award.

“Dave’s track record is exceptional and he has played a leading role in helping to create a culture in which our construction teams consistently build homes they would be proud to call their own. We hope his continued commitment to excellence will enable him to achieve even greater success in the next stage of the competition.”
