Additive manufacturing Open House Portsmouth highlights AMufacture and HP partnership

Additive manufacturing specialist AMufacture is hosting an Open House and Demo Day at its Portsmouth headquarters in collaboration with global technology company HP.

The event, taking place on 20 January, will see AMufacture and HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions demonstrate recent developments in industrial scale 3D printing. The additive manufacturing Open House Portsmouth event is aimed at businesses and professionals interested in how the technology is being used in production environments.

Additive manufacturing is a method of producing components by building them layer by layer directly from digital designs. Often referred to as 3D printing, the process allows complex parts to be manufactured with precision and consistency, reducing waste and enabling efficient production at scale.

Founded in 2018 by Craig Pyser and Will Howden, AMufacture has grown rapidly and is now described as a leading contract manufacturer within the additive manufacturing sector. The company says the Open House will highlight how the technology has moved beyond prototyping and into end-use manufacturing.

Craig Pyser said the day would showcase the progress made across the industry. “We’re delighted to be teaming up with our friends at HPAM for this special Open House which will showcase how additive manufacturing now has true production capability and can deliver parts at scale and with consistency, quality and speed.

“Nine out of every ten parts which leave our headquarters are now destined for end-use rather than as a prototype and the industry has huge potential as it continues to develop at pace.”

Running from 10am to 3pm and including lunch, the additive manufacturing Open House Portsmouth will feature live demonstrations of HP Multi Jet Fusion technology, alongside technical workshops and real-world case studies. Attendees will also be able to take part in discussions covering security, scanning, materials, manufacturing, post-processing and quality control, as well as network with industry professionals.

François Minec, VP and Global Head of Sales and Business Development at HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions, said the event would provide insight into a fast-developing sector. “As additive manufacturing is rapidly evolving, this Open House will provide an excellent opportunity to explore these developments and will be a valuable day for anyone interested in seeing how additive manufacturing can transform their business and deliver high-quality, industrial, production-scale manufacturing.”

AMufacture was the first company in the UK to operate the HP 5420 White 3D printer and specialises in HP Multi Jet Fusion technology. Supported by investment from Maven Capital and Turner, the business has increased its manufacturing capacity seven-fold over the past two years and is now targeting further growth in the UK and overseas.
