Taylor Wimpey South Midlands has completed an ambitious planting initiative at its sold-out Newton Leys development, introducing over 23,000 shrubs, plants, and trees to the new community. The project, which began in February 2025, included nearly 8,000 new trees such as Acer, Wild Cherry, English Yew, and Silver Birch, alongside Hawthorn shrubs, while also protecting existing trees across the site. The green spaces aim to enhance public areas for residents, encouraging responsible use of communal spaces, improving local biodiversity, and creating scenic walking routes.
Newton Leys, a new town on the outskirts of Bletchley, has welcomed 1,350 new homes through the Taylor Wimpey South Midlands development. The planting project forms part of the company’s commitment to integrating natural landscapes within residential communities, supporting both environmental sustainability and quality of life for residents.
Fiona Lloyd, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, said: “At Taylor Wimpey, we know how essential public spaces are for the wider community. With over 23,000 plants, shrubs, and trees now situated around the perimeter of the Newton Leys development, residents can enjoy scenic walking routes that encourage healthier habits, while also benefiting from beautiful views from the comfort of their own homes. We recognise the importance of preserving natural beauty to support local wildlife and promote biodiversity, which is why we chose to plant native tree species. Through this, we are ensuring a more sustainable future for all in Newton Leys.”
The planting not only creates visually appealing spaces but also contributes to environmental resilience. Native species were selected to encourage wildlife habitats, supporting birds, insects, and other local fauna. The initiative complements the development’s broader aim to combine sustainable living with quality design, offering residents spaces that are both functional and environmentally conscious.

While Newton Leys has now sold out, Taylor Wimpey South Midlands has launched its latest development, Salden Place East, located just five miles away. The new community features a selection of two, three, and four-bedroom homes designed with sustainability in mind, including solar panels, air source heat pumps, EV chargers, and triple glazing. The development aims to balance modern living with environmental responsibility, reflecting Taylor Wimpey’s commitment to greener construction and energy-efficient homes.
