Taylor Wimpey backs Alresford Town FC matchday with sponsorship donation

Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties has sponsored a recent matchday at Alresford Town Football Club, supporting the club with a £500 donation.

The sponsorship covered the Wessex League Division One fixture between Alresford Town FC and Colden Common FC, which took place on Saturday 6 December at Arlebury Park. The match attracted a crowd of 339 spectators, making it the second largest attendance nationally at this level of football over the weekend.

Club secretary Martin Cooke said the sponsorship played an important role in enhancing the matchday experience and supporting the club’s wider development.

“On behalf of everyone at Alresford Town FC, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Taylor Wimpey for sponsoring our match against Colden Common,” he said. “This sponsorship helped enhance our matchday experience for everyone who came, and we are incredibly grateful for their support and commitment to local sport.

“This contribution plays a meaningful role in the growth and development of our club, both on and off the field.”

While the result on the pitch did not go Alresford’s way, Mr Cooke said the day itself was a success, highlighting the strong turnout despite wet weather conditions.

“To see such numbers, including a large contingent from our youth teams, supporting the club was fantastic and reflects the strength and passion of our community,” he added.

Taylor Wimpey said the sponsorship was part of its ongoing support for communities close to its developments. Roz Wells, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said the company was pleased to support the event.

“We were delighted to support Alresford Town FC’s match against Colden Common,” she said. “Our sponsorship was not only in support of the community surrounding our Alresford Down development, but also to help boost local sports events that bring people together.”
